WE ARE LOWBORN
For years, LOWBORN existed at opposite ends of the pendulum. Since forming in Greensboro, NC, in 2017, the trio have continuously reinvented themselves, treating the practice room like a laboratory where the immediacy of early 2000s emo, the dynamism of modern indie and the shapeshifting ambition of David Bowie collide in search of a sound unmistakably their own. That relentless experimentation has produced multimillion-streaming singles like "Crazy," "I Want Out," "Be Like Me" and "Demons and Angels," earning placements on Spotify's New Noise and All New Rock playlists while Billboard praised their "absolutely huge" sound.
Now, melancholy, the band’s brand-new EP for Nettwerk, is the purest representation of that vision and drive. Across six songs, vocalist/guitarist Wes Lauterbach, drummer/producer Zane Frye and bassist/vocalist/synthist William Clayton fuse hard-charging alt-rock, modern emo, shimmering synths and sleek pop production into their most fully realized work yet. From the stomping self-sabotage anthem "biggermistakes." and trap-informed rush of "losingmymind." to the shimmering immediacy of "rightnow." and emotionally candid "i’mfine.", the EP balances massive hooks with raw vulnerability. Exploring regret, mental health, uncertainty and growing older, melancholy ultimately finds LOWBORN embracing authenticity over expectation – finally arriving at the music they were always meant to make.
LOWBORN Fam,
We want to take a moment to thank you for being on this journey with us. We always strive to be real, raw, and transparent in our music. Life is tough at times and wonderful at others and we want you to know that we’re here for you through the beauty and the pain if you ever need anything. We hope that you find as much inspiration and acceptance from our music as we do from you.
